Design Funny is a studio project that revolves around building a wooden assemblage that conveys humour, movement, and the concept of surrealism. Spanning one semester, the project gave me the opportunity to infuse absurdity into my desired outcome, and brand funny through illustrations&#38;nbsp;and type design.Text Fragment given: Scottish ostrich dancing the flamenco.

Find Your Way is an investigation on the identity of Bras Basah Complex, a shopping center built during the 1980s in Singapore that offers 5 floors of shops that are mainly selling books and arts. The outcome is a reinterpretation of the experiences and feelings I perceived when I look at the unsystematic wayfinding banners put up by the storeowners in the complex.

CUISINE is an illustration project created to represent a chosen word and theme of mine&#38;nbsp;

—&#38;nbsp; Japanese cuisine, constructed using various elements extracted from the array of Japanese food that I love. A follow-up project in the form of a book jacket was also created by utilising the initial illustration, creating a well-rounded outcome.

Studies is an exploration on the typographic identity of a semi-fictional exhibition named "Studies" by Shigeki Fujishiro. "Studies" was an exhibition that showcases the process in the artist's design work, where he utilised scale models in scenes of his photographs to simulate an object already in use, as if he was looking at others' works and giving critique, indirectly judging his own work to become better.

An in-depth exploration was done on Galapagos C Light by Dinamo to see how it applies on various design collaterals, including poster, banner, and pamphlet. The letters' arrangement was to emulate the way the scale models were being displayed on the table in the exhibition space.

A Second-hand Medley is a book of archival images of second-hand or thrifted clothing from the wardrobes of our friends. It aims to document intriguing pieces that found new homes, allowing us to appreciate them even more.


This was a group project. Together with my 2 teammates, Jamie and Jesslyn, we managed to produce a polished publication complete with 4 easily digestible content sections.

Inspired by fashion publications and artist books, we decided on a minimal design solution that showcases the clothing and its details best — including text and commentary excerpts where required. Filling the book with cleanly-cropped images on white background allows the images to stand out and were laid out differently for each section.The narrow book format allows it to be held and carried around easily and we finished it off with a perfect bind so that the spreads flow undisrupted.

Unseen Distractions is an accordion artist photobook that depicts my mundane and time-wasting daily activities that I subconsciously perform as a response to my inability to stay focus when I was supposed to be doing my work. The accordion book format helps me to convey each hour of the day, and the full display helps readers to visualise my day at a glance.

This project is a hands-on experimentation with the mechanical drawing machine, AxiDraw. The artwork is generated through Acrylicode, a browser-based generative art drawing tool. What interests me in AxiDraw is that it can generate imaginative outcomes made possible by human minds yet impossible by human hands.&#38;nbsp;
